Los Angeles based trio The Swoons (Matt Underwood, Tony Ann and Giacomo Timbrello) have quite a cosmopolitan background, with members coming from the UK, Canada and the USA before becoming classmates at Berklee College of Music. Their sound has an international feel as a result, as you can hear on their most recent single Lost.
The track is dreampop with a soulful twist, the vocals gliding smoothly over an almost seductive bassline and softly resolute synths. With a tempo designed to instil in the listener a sense of relaxed contemplation, the lovelorn lyrics work their way under your skin and into your soul. Lost is pop music at its most elegiac and beautiful.
Speaking about Lost, the band say: “Feeling lost has been a popular subject in music over the years whether it’s love, your job or your personal life. So, we wanted to write a song that flipped the concept into something more positive and hopeful. As any independent musician knows it can be a real struggle to feel hopeful when you’re constantly having doors closed on you be it record labels, publishers, venues or even simply the general public not connecting with your music – you’re always constantly looking for that yes, that approval to cover those insecurities you might feel”.
Lost is available now on all major digital platforms including Spotify and iTunes. The band are currently working on an EP due to come out early this year, so be sure to keep an eye on the bands social media such as Facebook for more news.
