Berlin based SQRD has followed up Scars (which we covered recently) with Would Run Wild; another slice of minimal-but-expressive electronica, which echoes acts like The xx and James Blake – both musically and in its ability to subtly stir the emotions. The track is accompanied by a haunting Kevin Doan directed video.

The track has a languid, lo fi feel to it, beats and rhythms rise and fall as the simplistic but warm arrangement creates a sensation of textured, uneasy bliss. The pitch-shifted vocals drape the track like silk and act almost as an aural ambrosia, lulling the listener to an almost dreamlike state.

The video features a series of montages, sometimes of a couple, sometimes of a woman alone,  sending a message not quite understood… all of which adds to the almost melancholic nature of Would Run Wild.

Would Run Wild is out now via Sommarhjärta, you can check out the track and more of SQRD’s work on Soundcloud and Spotify.
