Gabrielle Wortman and Jason Rosen have been making waves for some time now as Smoke Season. They’ve continued that trend with their track Wolves, and the Scott Fleishman directed video for the song which co-stars transgender model Luna Lovebad amongst others is something very special.

The first thing that hits you about the track is the interplay between the duo’s vocals. Wortman has a rich and sensual tone, Rosen’s sensuality being more masculine yet oddly vulnerable. Wolves is an electro-rock approach to trip hop and downtempo sounds which tempers the laidback feel of the song, cleverly balancing it with a soft yet prominent guitar solo.

The band say the song came about in the throes of a fiery argument that resulted in one of them exiting the car on a rush-hour filled LA freeway while driving to a writing session. The pair eventually made it to the session, channelled that energy into the song, and had made up before the day was over. “We’re not one to shy away from explosive emotions,” explains lead singer, Gabrielle Wortman. “Let’s just say we’re spirited artists and it keeps our music interesting.”
