Dutch duo Erwin Tuijl and Desirée Coumans make up Pocket Knife Army, whose sombre and almost metronomically menacing take on electro still has a sweet centre, thanks to Coumans’ icily angelic vocal performance on Forever Counting Sheep –  a song that has the feel of a nursery rhyme as reimagined by Portishead or Fever Ray.  Check out the video, which contains flashing images, below.

Forever Counting Sheep manages the feat of feeling ominously gothic, not in sound but in its overall atmosphere – more like a novel than the musical genre. The band pride themselves on using analogue equipment and eschew the use of laptops! You can find out more about the band, live dates, and more over on their official website, and you can listen to more of their bewitching sound on Soundcloud and Spotify. Forever Counting Sheep will feature on their upcoming album of the same name which will be released later this year.
