Lithuanian quartet Deeper Upper’s new single Summer We Lost has all the hallmarks of a real pop hit, a euphoric synthpop anthem with heady vocals, anthemic riffs and a driving sensation, not so much of summers lost, but summers that seem to go on forever. It’s reminiscent of Hurts at their best, but with the pop immediacy of a classic 80’s film soundtrack.

The track shows the band have built on and expanded their sound from the 2016 Mirrors album, adding layers of light and emotion to a style that uses the same retro elements but more intimate and atmospheric ends. Summer We Lost feels like the work a band having fun making music, of loving what they do and wanting to share that with others.
