NEW MUSIC: Torpa – Unknown Host

Torpa are a band we’ve not come across before, despite being quite local in geographic terms and electronic in nature; but better late than never! Steven and Peter Dandy have been making music since 2012 and have been prolific, having amassed a back catalogue of over thirty EPs and four albums in that time. The say their musical output can be eclectic but with Unknown Host they’ve tapped in to a rich vein of atmospheric, synthwave infused electronica.

NEW MUSIC: Lalume – Juno

Lalume are a Berlin-based, Norwegian/Australian electro-pop duo. They define their music as being a ‘patchwork of styles and eras weaving classical vocals, poetry and mythological elements into electronic beats and catchy synth-pop melodies’. Juno is the duo’s second single, following hot on the heels of Clouds which was released in October.

NEW MUSIC: Vera – Nobody Else

Copenhagen’s William Asingh is better known as Vera; a young Scandinavian artist known for working with new acts coming out of Denmark like Off Bloom and Liss, as well as more established artists like Danish superstar . He’s now concentrating on his own music, and first up is Nobody Else, whose deceiving guitar intro gives way to a soulfully smooth, sultry electro grower.

NEW MUSIC: Polysonic Bloom – Telewarped Loops

Californian Kyle McKay is Polysonic Bloom, a project that references the likes of Explosions In the Sky, Ian Brown, and Radiohead as artistic inspirations. Partly for health reasons, the latest album took four years to record and produce, McKay says the track and accompanying album are ‘a quest to blend contemporary visual art with intimate bedroom gospels’. Hailing from Adelaide in Australia, the duo has been releasing music since 2015, and since then they’ve seen their own special brand of ambient-influenced electronic dance gain fans around the world. Their latest single This Life sees them expand their musical palate with considerable success.
