The Weekly Roundup 26.02.17

We’ve had a rather hectic week here in Manchester; four gigs and a few after parties in six nights have left us rather exhausted but very happy. It’s great to live in a city with a vibrant music scene: one night we’re at an arena gig, the next it’s cramming into a downstairs bar for a packed and sweaty, DIY affair. Music is precious it its own right, but in a live setting, the opportunity it gives us to be with friends, create memories and connect with an artist in a communal setting is incredibly important. Cherish that. And so after that aside (!), on to the weekly roundup – I hope you like our discoveries for this week.

NEW MUSIC: LUUNA – Soap

York based trio LUUNA recently released the video for Soap -a track from their upcoming Moonflower EP, which, if is this track is anything to go by, will give the listener a refreshing twist on the trip-hop and experimental genre. It’s certainly not hard to see why the band has already received airplay on Radio1 and 6Music – this is something very special indeed.

Sorry Girls are an up-and-coming Dream Pop duo from Montreal, consisting of singer/songwriter Heather Kirkpatrick and producer/songwriter Dylan Konrad Obront. They describe themselves as being heavily influenced by early, spooky, ethereal 80s pop as well as 60s Motown; and their new track This Game showcases those influences perfectly.
